The latest New Books New Readers series to be offered through RSU 29/70 Adult Education concluded on Wednesday, April 8, 2015. New Books New Readers is a program for adults that is sponsored by the Maine Humanities Council. Learners get to read nine children's books (which they get to keep and add to their own library) and have an adult discussion around the theme that is the thread that connects the books and the conversation. A distinguished scholar, also provided by the Maine Humanities Council facilitates the discourse. Annaliese Jakimedes, an author from the Bangor area, led the most recent series that focused on the topic of "Justice." Annaliese led two sessions, one with males and one with females, at the Aroostook County jail, and one coed session at the Houlton Higher Education Center. Watch the RSU 29/70 Adult Education Course offerings to partcipate in New Books New Readers this fall. Enrollement in adult education is not required to particpate.
